A girl has to do what a girl has to do! Desperately in need
of an eyebrow wax, I decided to incorporate this chore in to my walkabout – the
whole two birds with one stone concept. I normally head over the hill for my
brow maintenance but these days I’m really trying to keep it local and see how
much I can accomplish without driving the car.
In the purest form of the walkabout, I set out at lunch
without a destination in mind and decided to just wonder around, pop in, see if
walk-in appointments were available, and pray that my brows would come out
looking ok. I wandered south of Ocean Ave and stopped in to Signature Day Spa -
they didn’t have any availability until this evening (but I’m glad I popped in
because the place looks very relaxing, I will be sure to blog about it when I
visit for a spa treatment). From Signature Day Spa I headed north, made my way
over to Dolores, and ended up at T&L Nail Spa. T&L is on Dolores
between 5th & 6th, right by the side entrance of the
post office.
T&L Nail Spa is fairly standard as far as these places
go, there are 4 pedicure chairs, 2 nail stations, a place in the back for waxing,
and the quintessential maneki-neko figurines waving their paws in the windows
and at the reception desk.
I’m always slightly hesitant to have someone new do my
brows, but Tiffany, the owner, was amazing. I actually think this is one of the
best brow waxes I have ever had. I prefer my brows a little thicker than the
pencil thin look some women like; however, the last person that did my brows
gave me quite the hatchet job. Tiffany was fantastic and actually discussed a
plan with me on how to better shape my brows (the right one needs to grow out a
bit!), gain some more symmetry and better balance my face. I’m a Capricorn and having
a plan is sure-fire way to get me coming back!
And as a final note, I was pleasantly surprised that the
cost of eyebrow wax at T&L Nail Spa is the same price I was paying over the
hill. Love that!
