Lloyd’s Shoes

Now that I’m walking to work everyday, my shoe needs are evolving. Door to door, it’s exactly one mile from my house to work. While I can make the walk in cute girl shoes I’m finding it’s a better idea to wear ‘walking’ shoes for a variety of reasons. First, the extra mileage is starting to take a toll on my shoes that aren’t designed for trekking up and down the hill everyday. Second, some of the shoes I’ve been wearing lately don’t offer a lot of cushion and the pounding is probably not good for my calves, legs, and back. Third, well, umm, the cute shoes aren’t nearly as comfortable as walking shoes. That said, the alternative does present some challenges – mainly, I am not a fan of wearing athletic shoes with business clothes! In addition, wearing shoes just for the walk means I need to pack shoes to change in to once I get to work, opening up a whole other can of worms on making sure I have a cute (yet large enough) backpack to transport all my stuff.

This situation has been building so for the past few weeks I’ve been observing the people walking around town and looking at their shoes. The one look I like a lot is the TOMS canvas classic shoes. They are absolutely a casual shoe; however, I find them much more stylish than athletic shoes. Plus they come in a variety of colors, they’re durable, and best of all, they are known for being comfortable.

As luck would have it, Lloyd’s in Carmel is a TOMS distributor. During lunch I walked over to Lloyd’s to check out their selection. Lloyd’s has been in Carmel since 1975 and they carry an extensive collection of quality women’s footwear, legwear, and handbags. Lloyd’s has inventory from Asia, Brazil, Italy, Spain, and items made in the USA.

The woman that helped was fantastic and super knowledgeable about Tom’s, apparently Tom’s can run slightly large so you need to try them on to make sure the fit is right for you. There was quite a large selection to choose from and I wasn’t sure what color I wanted. Kudos to the sales person because she steered me towards the most expensive pair…and I loved them! I opted for the leather over the canvas I’m considering this an early birthday present to me. As an added touch, the salesperson (darn, I wish I had caught her name) sprayed my shoes with a water/stain protector – nice touch.

Check out my new shoes in the picture below – I love the espadrille look!
