My well-needed holiday hiatus is now over and it’s time to
get back to pursuing my exciting endeavor to visit every shop in Carmel on the
days that I’m downtown at work. I knew I would enjoy discovering new places but
the surprise reward has been meeting all the wonderful people working at the
shops, galleries, and boutiques. I now find myself walking by various
businesses just to pop inside to say hello.
After quite a few days away from downtown, I had been
thinking about today’s stop for quite awhile and decided to visit one of my
favorite places to window shop: Paloosh. Located on the corner of Ocean Avenue
and Dolores, Paloosh’s fun, bright blue Dutch door, is actually on the corner
of the building leaving both sides of the storefront available for displaying
some of the cutest outfits ever. I’m a big fan of the skinny jeans and blouse
look, and the way the window ensembles are put together one quickly sees how
Paloosh masters the look of carefree, polished, coordinated, unique, and
effortless style. In addition to the great jean and blouse selections, they
always have some of the most adorable dresses I have ever seen!
Paloosh has a somewhat whimsical yet sophisticated vibe. The
store has a more urban feel while retaining the charm of a quaint Carmel
boutique. In some magic way, Paloosh has found the sweet spot where classy,
hip, fun, and respectable all come together. This is the place to find
something perfect to wear to go out on a date or to a party.
I spent some time chatting with a couple of the gals in the
store and was surprised to learn that most of the sales team has been around
for 7-10 years! It’s clear these women have a great eye for style, are a wealth
of fashion tips and can answer any questions of styles, sizing, color combinations,
etc. with enthusiasm. I’m guessing it’s the fun and quality inventory that
keeps the staff excited about going to work – and I’m sure working on the
window displays is a highlight. I learned from the staff that Paloosh not only
caters to the constantly flow of tourists and second-home owners, but this
store also has an amazing locals following.
