For years people have asked me for recommendations on where
they should stay when they come visit Carmel and I never have a good answer. I have walked passed every B&B, Inn, and
hotel in this town; but I’ve never taken the time to go inside and check them
out. Until now!
My first stop: the Wayside Inn.
The Wayside Inn in located on Mission and 8th
across the street from the Carmel Plaza and surrounded by some pretty amazing
boutiques and restaurants (truth be told, it’s near impossible to have a bad
hotel location in Carmel since everything is within walking distance).
When I went in to the office the first thing I noticed was
the smell. I’m not sure if it was the Christmas tree, the fresh cookies, or
apple cider – but it smelled great.
Stephanie was working the front desk and she was more than happy to tell
me about the property and give me a tour of one of the rooms.
Most rooms have fireplaces, some have Jacuzzi tubs, and they
all have plasma screen TVs and the most cozy and comfortable looking feather
bed imaginable! I have never wanted to take a nap as much as I did after seeing
that bed. This is a small property so instead of having breakfast in the lobby,
the Wayside Inn packs a continental breakfast (choice of cheerios, raisin bran, rice krispies, fruit, yogurt, pastries,
toast, milk, and orange juice)
and delivers it in the morning so it’s waiting outside your door when you
wake up.
