Café Carmel

Location, location, location. Café Carmel is a quaint country-style café located in the heart of downtown Carmel on Ocean Avenue between Mission and San Carlos.  The kitchen is on-site in the back of the store where all the cookies, pastries, and baked goods are made fresh daily.  What I find interesting is I never catch a whiff of the baked goods in the air (and my office is very close so I go by this place a lot). In addition to the desserts and coffee drinks, Café Carmel also has sandwiches, paninis, wraps, soups, salads. and more. This store does an amazing job displaying all the yummy delights both in the storefront window and the counter display cases, making it hard to decide what to order. (Hmm, I guess if the smell thing isn’t working then they have the visual thing covered!)

Another great tid-bit about this café is they fill the cannoli fresh when you order. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m putting it on my to-do list.

The café ambiance is friendly and comfortable with plenty of seating; however, I like to get my coffee to go and head over to Devendorf Park (just a few hundred yards away) or make my way down to the beach.
